Ohio’s Stay at Home order doesn’t need to stop you from coming to campus – at least virtually

Posted:

While Ohio is under a Stay at Home order from the Governor due to COVID-19, The Ohio State University made changes which has closed all but essential services on campus. Although you can’t visit the Nuclear Reactor Laboratory in person, you can feel like you are there during your ZOOM meetings.

The Ohio State University Nuclear Reactor Laboratory staff shared photos from the lab that can be used as a virtual background. ZOOM users are able to virtually transport themselves inside the reactor pool on west campus, or even back in time using a historical picture from the collection. Andrew Kauffman, Sr. Associate Director of the lab noted that, “The University’s response to COVID-19 has been outstanding. The staff has started using laboratory pictures for their Zoom backgrounds and wanted to share this opportunity with others.”  These pictures and directions are located at the bottom of this story.

Please use the following steps to create a virtual background.

1. Save the image that you would like to use to your computer.
2. Click the carrot next to the “StopVideo” button at the bottom of Zoom, and one of the options is “Choose Virtual Background”.
3. Browse to select the image you would like to use.
